All of our cameras are IP cameras. IP cameras are essentially cameras that upload recordings via the internet. Depending on your needs, you can choose from our different camera plans including our Penguin camera which has pan and tilt with two-way audio functionality, giving you full control over the camera from your app, or our Nighthawk camera which has the latest night vision technology, letting you see in the dark for 24/7 protection.
IP cameras need to be plugged into power. Our Alien and Penguin cameras come with a 1.5m long power cord and our Nighthawk cameras come with a 3m cord. If needed, you can always use an extension cord for longer distances. Our Penguin and Nighthawk cameras also come with mounting brackets so you can place them on walls or up high.
Our cameras use PIR in conjunction with PIR-based motion detection. This means that certain cameras will record when both detectors are triggered. You are able to customise your alert settings so that you are not alerted when there is a pet detected, or leave the settings as is – to see your beloved pets roaming around throughout the day!
Our Nighthawk outdoor camera is waterproof (IP66 rated) which means it is "dust tight" and protected against heavy seas or powerful jets of water. Our Alien and Penguin indoor cameras are NOT waterproof.
Yes. You can use any IP camera that has an "FTP". Some manufacturers even support our auto setup system. If auto setup is not supported you will need to manually enter the MAC address and settings. Please keep in mind that you can't use live view or pan and tilt features with another manufacturer's cameras. To use other IP cameras as part of your Cammy system, you will need to purchase our purchase our BYO plan.
Our system is designed for plug and play. Cammy is a DIY security system so you won't need a professional for installation. However, if you want to place a camera outside you may need to contact a local electrician to position and power your outdoor camera as the cameras need to be plugged into power in order to work.
